Celtic Conversations Monthly Lunch Series
This regular lunch series will feature insights and an engaging presentation from a special guest speaker in our community, over a delicious catered set lunch and the opportunity to connect with fellow club members in a welcoming setting.
Join us for the next lunch on Wednesday 27th November at 12pm, in the company of special guest speaker Dr Georgina Fitzpatrick, who will share her unique experiences living in Ireland for twenty years and her insights into the work of her late husband, Professor David Fitzpatrick.
In her presentation, Dr.Fitzpatrick will delve into their time in Co. Clare during the 1970s, when she accompanied David on his original field trip to interview elderly survivors of the War of Independence. Drawing from letters written home during that pivotal year of 1972-73, Dr. Fitzpatrick will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the making of David’s influential book, Politics and Irish Life 1913-1921: Provincial Experiences of War and Revolution(Gill & McMillan, 1977).
While her primary research focuses on the social, political, and legal history of Australia during the Second World War, Dr Fitzpatrick also wrote commissioned histories and curated exhibitions related to Irish history during her time in Ireland. This talk promises to offer rich historical insights and personal anecdotes from a unique perspective.
*Your ticket price includes presentation and insights from our guest speaker and a catered two course set lunch prepared by Chef Dargan and the Wild Geese team.
